The All-New 2025 Palisade

The Hyundai Palisade debuted in 2018, replacing the Santa Fe XL with a totally unique vehicle. More than just a slightly stretched-out version of an existing vehicle, the Palisade was new from the ground up, and slotted in as Hyundai’s largest vehicle, with room for up to seven passengers. Seven years on, the automotive world has taken some leaps forward – and the Palisade is on the cusp of its first major redesign since its introduction.

New Powerplant Options

The current engine under the hood of the Palisade, a 3.8-liter V6, has been sturdy and predictable over its lifespan. Getting 19 MPG city and 25 MPG highway, it’s even fairly fuel-efficient for a large SUV. The eight-speed automatic will stick around, while front-wheel and all-wheel drive will both be available.  However, Hyundai is looking to do better. With the recent inclusion of hybrid powertrains in the Santa Fe and Tucson, along with the concentration on electrification found in the IONIQ series, it seems like a hybrid option for the Palisade is on its way. Considering the needs of the large frame and spacious cabin, it’s expected that an incoming hybrid would pair a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with dual electric motors. There’s also the potential for a turbocharged version of the existing engine – or both. Hyundai is still coy if this will be part of the 2025 model year or be delayed until 2026.

Shaping Up

The bold new redesign of the Santa Fe certainly turned heads. The Palisade got a mild refresh for the 2023 model year brought a more aggressive and angular front end to the Palisade, which is likely to stay put for the 2025 model year. However, indications are that upcoming redesign will be even more aggressive up front, while incorporating similar design language from the Santa Fe down the sides and around the back end.

Safety First

Hyundai SmartSense combines safety and convenience into a comprehensive package and offers some of the best bang for the buck of any driver assistance suite on the market. It will continue to be an integral part of the Palisade, and every generation gets a new upgrade – from refined sensors to advanced cameras, the systems continue to improve. The 2025 Hyundai Palisade will include all of the systems that drivers have come to rely on, from Lane Keeping Assist and Blind-Spot Collision Warning, to some of the latest awareness systems including Safe Exit Assist and Rear Occupant Alert.

Options for All Needs

Hyundai has always aimed to provide plenty of options for buyers, and the 2025 Hyundai Palisade is expected to continue to provide six trim levels to choose from, ranging from the entry-level SE up to the exclusive Calligraphy Black edition. This allows drivers to opt for easy-cleaning cloth or luxurious leather; a basic audio system, or a Harman Kardon premium audio unit with 12 speakers; basic comforts, or heated seats throughout. Features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, navigation and satellite radio are standard across the line-up, along with copious cargo space.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade is highly anticipated, as the existing Palisade quickly developed into a driver favorite. With drivers clamoring for hybrid power, now is the time for Hyundai to make the move – but will it be for 2025 or 2026?
