The 2025 Hyundai Tucson continues to provide one of the best value propositions in the highly competitive compact SUV category. Wrapping a spacious cabin and cargo area and plenty of amenities in attractive sheet metal, the latest model year gets a minor facelift to keep the Tucson rolling along for the near future.

There are three different powertrain options available under the hood of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson. For the drive content with old-fashioned gasoline power, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This provides 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque and is available with front or all-wheel drive. It offers reasonable fuel economy, with front-wheel drive versions getting 25 MPG city and 33 MPG highway and all-wheel drive versions getting 24 MPG city and 30 MPG highway.

There are also a pair of hybrid options in the new Tucson. The traditional hybrid pairs a turbocharged 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, for an output of 231 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) puts down 268 horsepower and the same amount of torque, giving it a little more pep. Both get improved fuel economy, with the base hybrid getting 35 MPG city and highway, while the PHEV version gets 38 MPG city and highway.

On the outside, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson updates its sleek exterior with a refreshed grille and bumpers, as well as new wheel options. Swelling wheel arches give the Tucson a wider appearance from the front, which is a little more rounded than many of the other vehicles in the class.

The expansive interior of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson is class leader, providing seating for five with 41.4 inches in the front and 41.3 inches in the second row, which is more than some mid-sized contenders. The PHEV version trims the second-row legroom to 39.5 inches. Seat width is a highlight, as all models offer 57.6 inches of shoulder room up front and 56.0 inches in the rear. Similarly, the cargo hold is one of the largest in class, with 41.2 cubic feet of cargo with the second row up and 80.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down in the gas-powered model. The hybrid is reduced slightly to 80 cubic feet of max cargo space, while the PHEV is reduced to 31.9 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 71.8 cubic feet with them folded away.

Every Tucson comes with a 12.3-inch touch screen at the heart of the infotainment system, with six speakers and standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. HD Radio technology, satellite radio, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and streaming audio are standard, while four USB ports are provided. A Bose premium sound system is an available option.

A thorough safety suite brings together a number of safety systems as standards in the 2025 Hyundai Tucson offers one of the best safety suites on the market. This includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian, Cyclist, and Junction Turning Detection, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, driver-attention monitoring, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and LED headlights with automatic high beams. A rearview camera is also standard, as is the Rear Occupant Alert and Safe Exit Warning systems that add safety for rear-seat passengers. A surround-view parking camera and a blind-spot camera are available, along with highway driving assist featuring lane centering.

A variety of levels are available for the 2025 Hyundai Tucson, including ones that are exclusive to hybrid models.

The entry-level SE model features all the standards mentioned already, with an interior clad in cloth upholstery. The front seats are manually adjustable, while the rear seats are split-folding, and remote keyless entry is provided. This entry-level trim sits on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The SEL, Hybrid Blue, and PHEV SEL trims may all have different names, but the trims include the same features. On top of all the standards in the SE, it adds eight-way power-adjustability to the driver’s seat, and both front seats get heating. Wireless device charging helps to reduce the amount of wires in the cabin. Dual-zone automatic climate control and rear-seat HVAC vents are provided, and a hands-free power liftgate makes it easy to load and unload. 18-inch wheels are standard.

Available on the standard and hybrid, but not the PHEV, the SEL Convenience trim features synthetic leather upholstery on the seats. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather, and a panoramic sunroof is installed. Navigation is standard, while ambient interior lighting helps provide mood.

Only available with the gasoline engine, the XRT trim is mainly about the looks. The grille, wheels, side mirrors and badging are blacked out. The shift knob gets leather wrapping, while outside, a tow hitch and upgraded roof rails are provided. A rugged look is the focus, with side steps, special side cladding, black-painted front and rear skid plates.

Similarly, the N Line, only available with the Hybrid powertrain, builds on the SEL Convenience package. It also is mainly focused on appearance, with a sleeker exterior appearance thanks to slimmed-down fender flares, a unique grille, a twin-tip exhaust, and more. Inside, genuine leather upholstery features cloth inserts, while the pedals are metal finished. An 8-speaker Bose stereo is provided for upgraded sound.

All three powertrains have the Limited trim level at the top of the line-up. In every case, this features genuine leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and heated rear seats. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is also heated. The Limited trim gets all the available driver-assistance features, including the rain-sensing windshield wipers and remote-controlled parking assist. The Bose stereo is standard, along with a panoramic sunroof, and it all sits on 19-inch wheels.
